Final Results Posted for TTT at Kooragang
It was another great day for racing when 143 riders took to the well worn pavement at Kooragang for the annual Central Division Teams Time Trial.

It was only a testing little seabreeze that spoilt anotherwise perfect day, but still the times were pretty hot. The winning team of Bevan Leach, Brett Lambkin, Nathan Stewart and Geoff Troup from NewRad Gateshead #2 Team suffered a mechanical on the start line and had to complete the entire race with just three riders. Even so, they were still able to circulate at a stunning 44.3kmh to complete the course in 33mins 51sec.

Robert Hadley-Nugel Perry TTT
It's time to start sorting your teams out for the next CD event to be held on Saturday 9/5/2009 at 2:30pm.

The Robert Hadely-Nigel Perry Teams Time Trial moves to the flat ground of Kooragang Island this year. Speeds across all grades should be high if the wind stays away.

Teams can be made up of 3 or 4 riders but remember that the time for your team is taken from the third rider...

So close and yet so far...
Sometimes it's the smallest things that count. And today it was a couple of signs that read "60".

About 140 rider turned out for the first race of the 2009 road season only to be thwarted by the lack of speed signage for the turns. The signs are specified in the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) for the Black Hill course. Without them the traffic controllers could not conform to the TMP which cannot be altered in ANY way.

A last minute dash for signs by Mick Chapman proved fruitless and the race had to be abandoned.

So we can only apologise to the many riders who turned up to race today, including those who travelled long distances from Manning Valley, the Upper Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney's Northern Suburbs.

We hope to see you all at the Teams Time Trial at Kooragang in May

What's in store for Minmi?
Most of the rain that was supposed to follow the southerly change forecast to hit Newcastle at around 11:00am has moved out to sea. We might see a light shower this afternoon but nothing major, and a top temp of about 21deg.

But on the course it should be as hot as it can get with the biggest A Grade field ever taking to Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill. Even with a bit of dampness hanging around the sight of 50 A Graders taking it to each other should be enough to draw out big fields in the other grades

Start time is 2:00pm with sign on opening at 1:15pm. Get there!!

Change to the A Grade Pointscore
The allocation of points for the A Grade teams pointscore has changed.

The changes affect the three scratch races, with points being scaled upwards to reduce any advantage that might have been gained in the teams time trial results. Points for the teams time trial event will stay the same and significant bonuses can still be attained in that event.

The new pointscore structure is as follows:

A single team pointscore will be maintained for the series, and will be calculated as follows:
• For invitational events the first 4 placegetters earn 15, 9, 8 and 3 points repectively.
• For the teams time trial each rider is awarded points according to where their team placed, with the first four A Grade teams receiving 5, 3, 2 and 1 points for each rider. The fourth rider must finish within 105% of the team's finishing time to earn any points.

How to register for the Barbarians
With a strong field of teams entered for the first event at Minmi it's time for riders who don't have a team to sign up for membership on a Barbarians team.

Go to the Team Setup page and click on the Barbarians team. From there press the "I Want to Join This Team!" button and select your name from the list. You can add contact details if you wish.

Please note that not all riders will be listed under the Barbarians category. If your name isn't listed and you want to join then please send an email to cdgrader@gmail.com. Use the subject "Barbarians" and make sure you include your name and club somewhere in the message body.

Active Cycles comes on board
Team Active Cycles has renewed their sponsorship and can field a pretty strong A Grade team.

With teams starting to enter the fray riders are asking who they can ride for. The simple answer is to ride in your sponsor's kit in whichever team you are selected in. Obviously you would prefer to ride for your sponsor first and foremost, but if you are left on the outer then you can ride B Grade or race in your sponsor's kit for your club or a Barbarians team.
